LeBron and Bronny create history by playing together for the Lakers.

His oldest son, Bronny James, was seated on a courtside seat near the baseline when LeBron James created NBA history two seasons ago by surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the league's all-time top scorer.

LeBron and Bronny created history by playing together on the court during the Los Angeles Lakers' season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday night.

With 4:00 remaining in the second quarter, they checked in simultaneously, making them the first father-son team in NBA history to play together. Before reentering the game with Bronny for the momentous occasion, LeBron had already played 13 minutes after starting.

When LeBron and Bronny ripped off their warmups to formally take the court, the Crypto.com Arena audience erupted in cheers as the two rose from the end of the bench and made their way toward the scorer's table.

L.A. picked Bronny in the second round with the No. 55 pick in June, but he had a rough preseason, averaging 4.2 points on 29.7% from the field. However, he had a strong finish, finishing with 17 points (7-for-17) on 4 rebounds and 3 steals.

Yet, rookie guard JJ Redick, the Lakers' first-year coach, supported him by starting him in all six of the team's exhibition games, including a brief lineup experiment on October 6 against the Phoenix Suns that featured Bronny and LeBron together.

Redick expressed his excitement before the Wolves game, saying he was "thrilled to be a- part" of the "historic" event of LeBron and Bronny starting the season together.

According to Redick, he spoke with the father and son to find out how they would like their first game action to go.

Redick stated, "We had a couple chats about it." "I believe that everyone is in agreement. We want things to happen organically and throughout a game, and it should sort of make sense."

Another father-son team created history together, sitting along the same baseline where Bronny witnessed his dad smash Abdul-Jabbar's mark.

The first father-son team to play together in Major League Baseball, Ken Griffey Jr. and Ken Griffey Sr., turned it into an event.

Following L.A.'s morning shootaround, LeBron remarked, "It is a really fantastic moment in sports history to know that those guys will be there tonight while me and Bronny are on the same team."

In order to welcome the Griffeys and take a picture on the floor, LeBron and Bronny briefly paused their pregame warmups.

The father-son incident happened for the fourth time in professional sports on Tuesday.

Gordie Howe, who played with two of his sons, Mark and Marty, for the Hartford Whalers in 1980—the first time the family accomplishment occurred in the NHL—joins the Jameses in addition to the Griffeys. On October 4, 2001, Tim Raines and Tim Raines Jr. also played together for the Baltimore Orioles.

On September 14, 1990, the Griffeys hit back-to-back home runs while playing together for the Seattle Mariners for two seasons in 1990 and 1991.
