Atta Kusi, a former defender for King Faisal and Asante Kotoko, has expressed his dissatisfaction with his decision to pursue a football career.
The right-back has played for Kotoko King Faisal, Ashantigold, and Bibiani Goldstars in Ghana's top division for nearly his whole career.
According to Sportsworldghana, Attah Kusi laments not choosing an alternative career route, stating that it is difficult to have a prosperous football career in Ghana.
The seasoned defender has chosen not to play football in the nation due to low pay.
Despite having played for well-known teams like Ashanti Gold and Asante Kotoko, he acknowledged that he feels ashamed whenever he must rely on friends for financial support.
"Whenever I think back on my playing career, I feel a great deal of sympathy for teams like Kotoko, Ashanti Gold, and Gold Stars. Having to ask my buddies, who work as electricians and mechanics, for pocket money is embarrassing.
To have a great career, Atta Kusi then counseled young football players to look for better opportunities.
"All aspiring athletes should put in a lot of effort and look for chances abroad, in my opinion. Here, becoming a successful football player is quite difficult. Furthermore, a single injury could terminate your career too soon if you do not have the right insurance for players," Kusi continued.
