New Zealand Test captain Tom Latham has joined Warwickshire's foreign roster for the 2025 campaign.
Latham should play a full season in all forms for the Bears because there is not much overlap between New Zealand's calendar and the English summer. They might still make it to the World Test Championship final, which will take place at Lord's in June, and they will tour Zimbabwe in July and August.
Behind the scenes, we have been trying to find a player with experience and skill who can bolster our top order. It is a true joy to have signed Tom for the 2025 season since he perfectly fits the bill," stated Gavin Larsen, the performance director for Warwickshire.
Larsen also mentioned that Latham, who has 26 T20 international caps, would play for the Birmingham Bears in the Blast.
Larsen stated, "Tom has played more than 100 T20s, averaging 30 and with a strike rate of 131, but he is more well-known for his red-ball career." He is another fantastic choice for our Blast campaign; he is a very intelligent T20 player with a wide variety of strokes.
After stints with Kent, Durham, and Surrey, Latham will join Warwickshire his fourth county. He is currently playing for New Zealand at the beginning of their three-match Test series against England.
Latham remarked, "I am excited to have the opportunity to represent Warwickshire, a club with a tremendous heritage." "I have performed at Edgbaston previously, so I am aware of how devoted the supporters are to the team there. I am thrilled to call it home for the 2025 season because it is one of my favorite locations.
"Taking the family to Birmingham and spending some time there to see the city will also be enjoyable. Nothing would make me happier than to assist the Bears in raising a trophy. I am excited for the entire experience.
