Atta Kusi, a former defender for Asante Kotoko, has voiced regret for pursuing a career in football due to the low pay in Ghana's domestic league.
In a recent TikTok interview, the former AshantiGold player revealed his concerns and acknowledged the difficulties local football players endure.
He confessed that the low pay and difficulties of maintaining a football career in Ghana had caused him to reflect on his life decisions.
Kusi said, "I sincerely regret playing football." "I regret not focusing on my schooling or learning a trade. I would have made more money if I had than I did playing football in this nation.
Conceding that he frequently depends on friends for financial support, the 32-year-old defender called the situation "humiliating."
For young athletes in Ghana, Kusi's cautionary tale serves as a warning. Since it is still difficult to establish a steady career in the local league, he suggests that they look into chances outside.
Kusi's personal career has been difficult, including a brief tenure with Heart of Lions during the 2023–2024 season, during which he made six appearances and helped the team avoid relegation.
