After agreeing to a two-year contract with the Ghanaian powerhouse, Black Stars goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has decided to stay at Accra Hearts of Oak.
Originally scheduled to leave the team in 2026, the goalie will now remain with the team until 2027.
After meeting with the club's management, the Hearts of Oak skipper consented to accept the contract with better terms.
"The Accra Hearts of Oak Board and Management are pleased to announce that Black Stars goalkeeper, Benjamin Asare, has extended his contract with Ghana's greatest Club," the club announced in a statement confirming the agreement.
The former Accra Great Olympics goalie is still dedicated to the Accra-based team, though.
Following his outstanding debut performance for the Black Stars, which included maintaining clean sheets in back-to-back World Cup qualifying matches against Chad and Madagascar, the 32-year-old stole the show last month.
Following the two games, Asare was formally named the team's first-choice goalkeeper, unseating frequent invitees Jojo Wollacot and Lawrence Ati Zigi.
Asare has only allowed eight goals in 20 games while keeping 13 clean sheets in the Ghana Premier League.
