Dr. Kwame Kyei, the former chairman of the Asante Kotoko Board, has expressed grave worries about the rising instances of hooliganism in Ghanaian football, cautioning that unbridled violence could turn off potential investors and impede the growth of the sport.

Following the untimely murder of Pooley, a loyal Asante Kotoko supporter, Dr. Kyei's comments have sparked grave safety concerns in Ghanaian football. There have been increasing calls for action to stop hooliganism after reports have linked his death to violence during matches.

During Pooley's one-week funeral vigil at Heroes Park, Dr. Kyei emphasized the pressing need for authorities to solve the matter before it causes long-term harm to the sport.

In an interview with Kessben TV, he stated, "No serious investor will consider putting their money into a sport if there is a constant threat to the safety of players and officials." "We must provide a safe and expert setting where investors and sponsors may support the game with confidence."

With more and more reports of player attacks, referee abuse, and audience violence, hooliganism has been a recurring problem in Ghanaian football. Dr. Kyei underlined that such conduct jeopardizes the sport's expansion in addition to damaging its brand.

Ghanaian football's sustainability and international competitiveness depend heavily on investment, which necessitates large sums of money for team administration, player development, and infrastructure. However, investors are reluctant to commit to the league due to safety concerns.

Without quick action, Ghanaian football could stagnate, Dr. Kyei said. "We need to make sure that there is no violence if we want to see the kind of football that we all envision—where clubs are competitive, players are respected, and the league is world-class."

His appeal supports mounting calls for tougher laws to stop hooliganism and protect the sport's long-term viability.
